This abandoned military base used to be a radio communication station. Mainly used for communication with other bases, monitoring of radio signals and gathering information from enemies. I wouldn't say that this base had an important function during the war compared to other bases. It was more used as a backup base when needed for certain purposes. Over time, the base was converted into a military unity. I didn't present all of this in this video because the base no longer has any remaining marks of the radio base, therefore it would be difficult to present its functionality. Each time when I explore places, my goal is to find out as much details as possible about the place - when it was closed, what happened and so on... A number of visits were made to places where computer equipment was left behind. Many of those places have no electricity so I decided to buy required equipment that I could 'explore' those computers. There are no people who still don’t know about the Chernobyl disaster. Everyone who talks about it has different facts about the story. But did you know that Chernobyl has a sister? The nuclear power plants were actually designed according to the same Soviet Union project. One of the most interesting similarities is the reactor. For example, this power plant had a working RBMK-1500 reactor, the same design as Chernobyl. During the commissioning of the power plant, the operators once had to postpone the commissioning of the second unit due to the Chernobyl accident. The power plant is closed now and no longer in operation. I was curious to visit the plant. During the war, the Russians constantly reinforced their military forces, armed themselves with nuclear weapons and built military bases. Each military base had its own purpose. One of the most secret was the nuclear weapons storage base. It was designed to protect parts of a nuclear weapon and if necessary transport them safely to missile launch sites. This base was built in one of the Baltic countries. Currently abandoned but guarded by the military. I had a flight drone session early in the morning. During the flight I saw an easily noticeable place in the middle of the fields. There was an old building surrounded by vehicles. Most cars are just scattered around... you can find Russian cars, buses, military trucks and very well known Chernobyl fire trucks... Also most car brands are known from the Soviet era... LADA, Moskvitch,(Москвич), ZIL(ЗиЛ)... in general it's a vehicle graveyard... Many years ago a small building with antennas had a secret. It had an underground bunker which was built as emergency place for city executives. In case of war the bunker could control the whole city. The underground place has special monitoring screens where the executives were able to monitor a situation in the city or even in the country. A long corridor inside connects many rooms such as meeting room, control center, living, storage rooms as well medical point. The place is a unique because of left and still working equipment. Unfortunately not in use and left behind by the owners. UPDATE: No longer accessible, the bunker is being demolished. In the abandoned factory area I found an unexpected entrance. After a few doors I entered to a hiding place (safehouse, bunker). The hiding place is pretty clean, all things looks intact, some boxes are broken but the status of this place is not bad. Electricity is still working and other equipment is still running. One day walking around the factory area I have noticed a small building. I found the way into a huge abandoned building. Walking through the empty rooms one moment I was thinking to leave the building, but... then I decided to check the basement. Going down the stairs I found a large hermetic door and behind them the old Soviet bunker. It was probably used as a hideout in the Soviet era after a while a bit restored but what's the most interesting that everything is left inside even an old communication-radio station.
