Maple crossed over the rainbow bridge one year ago today. Cherry and I miss her every day, but I feel so lucky to have spent so many amazing years with her. She lived a long and happy life, filled with so much love and joy. I found putting this tribute together for her emotionally cathartic, being reminded of all the wonderful times we shared together. Israel Kamakawiwoʻole's song has always been special to me and I would often play the song for Maple but never released a video until now. Until we meet again, somewhere over the rainbow, I love you Maple.

It has been a difficult number of months for Cherry and me as we have lost our best friend. Maple and Cherry were so close, It has been hard for her. I've begun playing the guitar for Cherry every night as the music helps to soothe her. It took many months before I could pick up and play the instrument again without tears, as for the past 12+ years I've only played with Maple by my side. Music is healing, and through working on this tribute for Maple I've felt my heart begin to heal, and I'm able to focus on remembering all the magical moments we spent together over the years. The theme from the film Coco, Remember Me, resonated with me on a deep level, and I wanted to play it in memory of Maple. I know Maple would want us to be happy as we remember her, she would always try to lick away my tears when I was sad. You were a good girl, Maple. I will always remember you. I love you Maple.

Yesterday I had to say goodbye to my best friend. Maple passed away peacefully during the night, while I held her in my arms. We have spent every moment together for over 12 years, doing everything together. I adopted her from a rescue shelter and the first time we met she tackled me, leaping into my arms, wagging her tail so hard and with a smiling face full of love. We went on so many adventures together, and she was always there for me with her unconditional love through difficult times. Music helped to soothe and comfort her, especially when she was feeling anxious during thunderstorms and fireworks so I would play for her to help calm her down. She would lay beside me with her head in my lap and listen to the guitar until she fell asleep. I feel so lucky to have had her in my life, the bond we shared is indescribable and my heart is aching. There are a lot of videos that I filmed with Maple which I never posted on YouTube, or videos I didn't finish editing, that I might release in the future. I hope that some of the moments we shared together over the years have helped to bring some joy or comfort to you. Thank you for the love and support you have shown us. I love you Maple.

Space Oddity by David Bowie was released 48 years ago today on July 11th, 1969. Apolla 11 launched 5 days later, becoming the first manned moon landing.
